April 13 — Liver Life Walk8:30 am – 11:00 am
This dog-friendly Phoenix event is presented by Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center and the Mayo Clinic to benefit American Liver Foundation, Desert Southwest Division.
The 5k and 1k walks are preceded by dog competition with prizes for best dog tricks, happiest dog and more.

Head on out to way East Mesa to get a hike in with your dog before our beautiful Arizona weather turns hot.
Tails on Trails will provide the opportunity to meet other dog hikers, learn
safe hiking practices and dog trail etiquette.The fun, 3-mile hike along the Blevins Trail is great for experienced hiker dogs.
Please bring a short non-extendable leash, a small cleanup bag, and water for you and your dog. One dog per hiker, please.
Note: A “Beginners Level” Dog Fitness Hike is also offered each month for those who feel they need the basics before advancing to this level. Location: Trail Staging Area.

Bring your best friend out for a walk in the Estrella Mountain Park west of Phoenix.
Hikers and dogs will walk the Coldwater trail, a wide trail that there will be plenty of room for Fidos and Fifis to explore safely. Learn some tips from Ranger Amy for safe hiking with your dog. Dogs must be on a leash. Meet at the Coldwater Trailhead.

Arizona Dock Dogs is having an Open House!! This is your chance if
you’ve ever wanted to see how your dog would do at dock jumping. It is
open to the public for anyone who is interested in getting involved in
the sport.Please bring your dogs out and give them a chance to get on the dock
and get in the pool.This is a FREE event open to all New dogs.

Check out this very cool night hike for you and your dog at Cave Creek Park, north of Phoenix.
Ranger Mark is going to take his dogs for a hike on the Overton Trail (3.5
miles). You and your friendly dog(s) are invited to join them!Experience a bit of elevation and watch the city light up as the sun sets. Bring
sturdy shoes, flashlights, water for you and your pets, and leashes are
required. Don’t forget, you will be required to clean up after your pet, so come

Looking for a way to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with your Arizona dog? The annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration presented by Si Se Puede Foundation honors the Hispanic community’s many contributions to the City of Chandler. The festival also features the popular Chihuahua Races and the crowning of the King and Queen Chihuahua..
HALO Animal Rescue will be at the Chihuahua Races from 12-4 pm with Chihuahuas for adoption. Come meet your new best friend!
Also come visit The Chihuahua Store all day at the Races and buy Chihuahua tee shirts and other items. All proceeds will help HALO Animal Rescue to save homeless pets.

Phoenix is blessed with some great in-town hiking areas that you can share with your dog. A class being offered at North Mountain Visitor Center gives you and your dog some great advice and training in a beautiful desert setting.
Classes are taught by Leslie Spencer-Snider and cost $15 each or four sessions for $40. They are held every Saturday morning. Look for Leslie and the dogs near the picnic tables behind the center.
Topics include:
- Conditioning your dog and yourself for the trail
- Proper etiquette on the trail with your dog and you!
- Emergency first aid and how to handle an emergency
- Hiking with a backpack on your dog
- Proper care for your dog’s paws
- How to handle wildlife encounters
- How to handle horseback riders
- How to handle mountain bike riders
