An event to help raise money and awareness for pit bulls.
Join us for the 2nd Annual Running For the Bulls, benefiting the Lost Paws. This run/walk follows the New River Trail System, starting and finishing at Rio Vista Park in Peoria. All participants will receive:
* Custom Dri-Fit Tech T-Shirt
* Pre- and post-race runner food.
Multiple water/med stations will be available on the course — all well-behaved dogs are welcome to run as well!

Don’t have a dog?
No problem! Maricopa County’s Animal Care & Control and Parks and Recreation Departments have united to bring you this program.
You can “test drive” potential canine hiking partners to see how they behave on leash and get along with other dogs, while learning about trail etiquette and safety.
Owned, friendly, leashed dogs that are at least six months old and current on their vaccinations are welcome to join this one-mile trek on our scenic, groomed, Merkle Trail.
Please bring water, closed-toe shoes, and an open heart for a possible new best friend, or two. This program will be held on the first Saturday of each month, from October through April.

Uncle Bear’s in Queen Creek is one of the original dog-friendly places. Heck, it is named after a dog. They are all about dogs!
Standing Proud Pit Bull Rescue will have a few of our east valley adopt-a-bulls out to meet and greet the community in hopes of finding their forever homes! Bring your family, friends, or come solo! Oct. 11- Barktoberfest9:00 am – 3:00 pm
Voted BEST Annual Event in Gilbert, Barktoberfest is the best place for people and their pooches to party and have a fantastic day together!
Hosted by Gilbert’s own no-kill Friends for Life Animal Rescue, this event features live entertainment, an Alumni (dog) parade, dog washing, pet arts and crafts, shopping booths, food trucks, a lure course and contests for best pet-owner lookalikes, tricks and costumes.
Admission is free but some activities require a small donation, and all proceeds go towards saving the lives of homeless dogs and cats.

Nov. 15 — Phoenix Police and Parks Pups Festival8:00 am – 12:00 pm
Take your pooch for a walk and help raise money for the Phoenix Police Foundation and the Phoenix Parks Foundation. Registration starts at 8 a.m. and followed by the walk at 9 a.m. After the walk, browse vendor booths and enjoy interactive games with your pup.

Chandler’s popular event for dog lovers and their canine friends returns to Tumbleweed Park. Woofstock – The Great Chandler Dog Walk is a family-friendly day of tail wagging fun for adults, kids, and well-mannered and leashed dogs.
In addition to a series of charity dog walks, Woofstock will feature several local organizations that will demonstrate their canine sporting activities, including Good Dog Agility with agility drills, Blazin’ K9s with flyball, and Sweetwater Stockdogs showing off dog herding
. The festival also includes a small off-leash dog park, vaccinations, pet adoptions, pet parade, and a variety of pet-friendly vendors. There will be musical entertainment, caricature drawings, face painting, pet photography, raffle prizes and food and beverages for sale. .

Nov. 16 — Dogs’ Day in the Garden8:00 am – 2:00 pm
Pet people can bring their canine compantions to Phoenix’s Desert Botanical Garden for a morning of treats, activities and pet-related presentations.
Take advantage of this special opportunity to bring the whole family, dogs included, to the Garden. Spend time in the “doghouse” with vendors sampling the best dog food and treats. Sit and listen to special presentations ranging from healthy dog treats to keeping dogs safe in the desert environment. Go for a walk on Garden trails, heel for family photo opportunities, and participate in craft activities for both children and dogs. Dec. 3 — Chihuahuas in Sweaters6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Join us at the very dog friendly O.H.S.O. Eatery and Nano Brewery in Phoenix for an adoption event with Chihuahuas decked out in their finest (and ugliest) holiday sweaters.
The Chihuahuas are from Chi Town, an area at Maricopa County Animal Care and Control’s West Valley Animal Care Centerdevoted to caring for sick, injured and scared small breed dogs (usually Chihuahuas).
