Feb. 15 — Hiking with Dogs — Tempe6:30 pm – 8:00 pm
Join REI staff to learn about the basics of hiking with dogs. This class will help you plan a successful hike for you and your canine companion.
We’ll review where to go, what to bring for you and your pup, and what you may encounter on the trail. We’ll talk about where to find dog-friendly parks – local, state-wide and nationally.
Having the right equipment is critical, so we’ll discuss gear, as well as safety and comfort items you’ll need to bring along to make a safe, enjoyable hike for both you and your dog.
Learn how to travel on trails with your dog in a way that makes the least impact on the natural area, including wildlife. Attendees are encouraged to bring all of their hiking with dogs questions, but unfortunately due to classroom constraints, we ask that you do not bring your non-service animals.

Feb. 18 — Spay Pride — Tempe8:00 am – 3:00 pm
Come and join us at Kiwanis Park in Tempe, AZ on February 18, 2017 for Spay Pride is a dog-friendly 5K Run/Walk, our signature fundraising event. Proceeds for this event directly benefit Panacea Animal Wellness Sanctuary (Panacea) and C.A.R.E (Companion Animal Rehabilitation Emergency) Medical Fund.
Why the name Spay Pride? Simply put, spaying and neutering our pets saves lives through reducing the number of unwanted pets that end up in our shelters, which causes overcrowding and results in unnecessary euthanasia of these orphaned, shelter animals. Panacea Animal Wellness Sanctuary partners with various community groups and sponsors, including but not limited to the Animal Defense League of Arizona (ADLA) who will be available event day with vouchers for spaying/neutering so that jointly we can build awareness of this important message.
