Nov. 3 — AAWL Walk to Save Animals — Tempe8:00 am – 12:00 pm
The Arizona Animal Welfare League’s Walk to Save Animals 2k & 5k walk is a tradition for many Phoenix residents and AAWL alumni families. This family and pet-friendly event is AAWL’s largest annual fundraiser, bringing out more than 3,000 people and dogs to help raise funds for the thousands of homeless and medically in-need animals AAWL rescues.

The Garden has gone to the dogs! Take advantage of this special opportunity to bring the whole family,
dogs included, to the Garden. Go for a walk on Garden trails, meet other dog lovers, heel for family
photo opportunities, learn about local dog-related nonprofits, shop and enjoy samples with your pup,
and experience Doga (dog yoga) or other hands-on, canine-themed activities. Don’t miss this tail-
wagging good time!PLEASE NOTE:
- Dogs must be on a leash and remain on marked trails at all times.
- Desert Botanical Garden reserves the right to refuse entry to or remove any dog exhibiting aggressive
behavior other dogs or visitors. - Dogs will only be admitted to the Garden between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Get your dog out of the house and over to Woofstock! Dog lovers of all kinds can enjoy a ‘fur-filled’ day of free family fun, in Tumbleweed Park. Whether your pooch prefers to ‘ruff it’ on a hiking adventure or sit in the lap of luxury at a pet spa, the variety of pet-related vendors and activities are sure to have your dog (and you) begging to come out and play. Additional tail waggin’ activities include: pet adoptions, pet psychic readings, pet caricatures and more.

The American Cancer Society Bark For LifeTM is a noncompetitive walk event for dogs and their owners to raise funds and awareness for the American Cancer Society’s fight against cancer.
By supporting Bark For Life, you help the American Cancer Society save lives, and that helps us move closer to our ultimate goal of a world with less cancer and more birthdays.
So bring your best canine friend and join us for a fun-filled day starting with a walk, and then continuing with demonstrations, contests, and games.

Dec. 8 — 12Ks of Christmas — Gilbert7:30 am – 12:30 pm
Recognized by Runners World as one of the Top 10 Races for the Whole Family and Top 11 Races to Run with your Doggie, the 12k’s of Christmas is a must do.
This unique family festival celebrates health, fitness and the joy of Christmas, while supporting local animal rescue groups. The event includes a 12k run, 6k run/walk and a 1.2k Santa “Sled Run”, plus a Christmas Bazaar, Santa’s Pet Village with pet adoptions, and live Christmas entertainment in the park and along the race course.
Wear a Santa Suit, dress up the kids as elves, put costumes on your pets, and decorate your wagons and strollers. There will be wrapped gifts under the Christmas tree for some of the best outfits. Shop in the Christmas Bazaar and visit furry friends in Santa’s Pet Village.

Dec. 12 — Holiday Yappy Hour –Scottsdale5:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Dress your pooch in their holiday best because Santa will be at Yappy Hour for photo opportunities. The most festive dressed will win a special box filled with Harry Barker treats, toys and picture frames. Mom or Dad of the winning pet will receive a complimentary bottle of Montelucia wine.
A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit the Lucky Paws Foundation, a cage-free, paradise-inspired sanctuary for animals awaiting adoption.

Jan. 5 — Wag and Walk — Mesa9:00 am – 10:30 am
Don’t have a dog? No problem! Maricopa County’s Animal Care & Control and Parks and Recreation Departments have united to bring you this program. You can “test drive” potential canine hiking partners to see how they behave on leash and get along with other dogs, while learning about trail etiquette and safety. Owned, friendly, leashed dogs that are at least six months old and current on their vaccinations are welcome to join this one-mile trek on our scenic, groomed, Merkle Trail. Please bring water, closed-toe shoes, and an open heart for a possible new best friend, or two. This program will be held on the first Saturday of each month from October through March. Meet at Area 6.
